On Friday 1 Jun the RAF Spitfires and Hurricanes Rugby 7s teams will be hosting a 12 team 7s tournament with Oxford University RFC.
Oxford’s famous Iffley Road ground is the venue for the tournament which celebrates the RAF’s centenary and the 10th anniversary of the RAF Spitfires 7s. Tickets are just £5.00 with various reductions on this. We hope to get a large crowd to enjoy an afternoon and evening of great rugby. Games KO at 1300 and the evening will draw to a close at around 2200.
We welcome teams from across the world including Khelo Rugby from India, Afghanistan 7s (tbc), the Switzers from Switzerland and local teams including the British Army, Oxford University, Horus 7s from RAF Brize Norton and St Edwards School Oxford, the St Edwards Martyrs (their old boys) – St Edwards was the school Douglas Bader attended.
If the weather is kind, we hope to have a flypast, a parachute jump and the RAF Spitfires Choir performing. There will be food, music and drink (provided by our sponsors Shepherd Neame).
